How Do I ... Run a one-off Validation
Support have advised me to run a validation but I finish at 5pm and no-one else is allowed to do it.
You should not need to depend on another member of staff, you should not need to do it yourself. Unix had a whole range of tools to automate things.
If you need/want to run a one off Validation (or any of the other unattended options) after hours, here is how:
- At any Premvet 5 menu, press F6 to get a Vet> prompt
- Type
at 2300(assuming 11pm suits) - You will get a blank line type:
vet -p valid - Press <ctrl> d
- You will see a line similar too:
job 962139600.a-12027:0 at Tue Jun 27 23:00:00 2000This is the job identification number and it indicates that all is well.
A validation will be run at 2300 tonight - the report spooled and a copy
will be sent up to support so they don't even need you to fax/post the
printout. If you run the job at say at 0100 then this will
refer to 1am the following morning.
