How Do I .... Transfer files between machines.
If you are at home and want to get something from the practice computer or want to get data from the branch machine - how do you do it.
This is fairly general and will cover the 'common' ways:
- One of the easiest is to use E-Mail, this will work from the practice
to home or branch to branch.
- Any Printout
Use F9 to swap the 'D'efault printer to 'Send via E-Mail', enter the mail address and subject - run the report. The report will be mailed over to you. - Export Files and Print Spooler
Both these options have the ability to attach via a mail message.
Spooler - Use 'Mail-it'
CSV Files - Use 'C'opy then 'E'mail - Startup your mailer, read in the file (use cut and paste if using
Anita) and send it.
- Any Printout
- Lets say you are in a hurry and want the file ASAP.
- Looking 1st at dialing in using Anita on a Windows PC.
Within Premvet locate the file you require, shell out with F6 and type sz name-of-file Anita should detect the transfer and automatically save the file, the cursor will change to a litte transfer symbol and the status bar will show you the progress. - Dialing in via xc
Make a note of your 'Escape Character' (either ^A or ^O) in the line below I will use ^O - replace as required. As above locate the file, shell out and type sz name-of-file Jump to command line with ^OX then type $ rz and return Once the job has finished transferring jump back with 'T' for terminal. If you are finding you need to do this frequently then contact support as it can be reduce to a couple of keystrokes.

- The last option is where you want to transfer work between the
practice machine and the branch and it is not urgent.
Shell out with F6 to the Vet> prompt, locate the file to send and type
uuto filename machine!userfor example, to send recall.def to the user tom on the machine bdsedin I would enteruuto recall.def bdsedin!tomThe modem will talk and the file transferred. To 'pick up' the file, shell out with F6, move to where you want the file to be deposited and type
uupickThe file will appear and a note of where it came from, press return till you locate your file and type a 'm' (for move). That's it.
