Using Search For Code
The Search for Code option can be used to search and printout clients that have specific work on their clinical records. You can search for specified text, analysis codes and done by a specific user. While the system does allow you to enter multiple criteria usually it is run looking for one item.
Search for code is located in
Reports -> Search for Code {Classic Menus}
Misc Utilities -> Search for .. {New Style Menus}
The 1st screen is used to restrict the search based on information on the clients management record. Usually this will be set to ALL clients and no restriction e.g.:
1. Client range : All 2. Output type : Printer 3. Client types : All 4. Species : Ignore 5.. Breed : Ignore 6. Status : Ignore 7.. Status to ignore : None 8. Sex field : Ignore 9.. Surgery number : Ignore 10. Notes field : Ignore 11. Herd type : Ignore 12. Animal age : Ignore 13. Weight : Ignore 14. Colour : Ignore 15. Address : Ignore 16. Abort once found : No
Tip: If you are only wanting to find the clients that have had a specific treatment/drug and not when they had it switch 16 to Yes.
The 2nd screen is used to enter what you want to search for:
You have the choice of:
| Notes | Any text appearing on the line e.g VACCIN |
|---|---|
| Range | A range of analysis codes e.g 100-200 |
| Specific | One analysis code e.g. Payments are code 255 |
| Ignore | A specific analysis code to ignore |
| Vet | The ID of the user. |
You must enter at least ONE criteria, if multiple criteria are entered on a SINGLE line then ALL must match before the line is printed.
The sample screen below is set up to print any records between the 1st on October and the 31st of October that have the analysis code 255 (e.g. payments).

Searching between 01.10.95 and 31.10.95
Operand set to OR
Tip: If the criteria get confusing and you think you may have made a mistake then you can enter an * which will reset the settings back to the blank default.
The Report will include the client name and the full line that was matched.
When using search for code it is recommended that before you run it over all the clients you reduce the range to include a client which you know it will find. Once you are happy the search criteria will match the expected records you can then run it over a larger range.
