I use Operation -> Letter to prepare letters for clients - it works fine with the Axel terminals but under Windows I get Shell Exec Error 31.

All this error means is Windows does not know which program to use to open the document.

The default 'template' file usually ends with .def. (You can usually change the default filename - see the manual for details).

When using Anita, Anzio etc. Windows does need to know how to handle the document, you can check/change/add the association via:

  • My Computer
  • Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types
  • Select the Extension and the system will show the program it will use
    To add a new one .e.g .def, select New, enter the extension and then select the application.

    • Tip: For .def files associate them with WordPad.
