Allocate Clients

When you are adding new records to a branch system Premvet cannot just add this to the end of the database as it has no way of knowing if the record allocated has been used by a remote machine. The system instead, will look for pre-allocated records that have been created on the main system (called XUD?). These records are added via the Allocate Clients option on the Cross updating menu.

This has to be done from the main site (user needs access to the Cross updating menu).

From the main menu:

General Applications >
		Modules >
			Cross Updating >
				Allocate Clients

When you press A (or highlight Allocate Clients and press return) you will be asked if you want to continue. Say Yes.

You will then be asked which surgery these new cards should be sent to, answer as required. This adds a batch (200 records) of new clients to the cross updating log file.

Normally, these cards will be sent the next time the two machines 'talk'. However, if it is necessary to send the new cards immediately you will need to log in as root and enter the necessary password. At the root prompt (#) type
