Clear Record Locks
Sometimes when you try to access a clients card it tells you that it is locked even though you appear to be the only person logged in. This can be caused by a user just switching their screen off without exiting the vet system, the VatBook being locked, autolog disconnecting you or other reasons.
You should not need to use this option very frequently - once/twice a month (if that). If you find you are using it frequently then please contact support
so they can check over your system. The system does log all uses of this option
and they can look at this to see if it is a specific screen/user that is
causing the problem.
Clear Record Locks is accessed from the General Applications Menu (if you do not have access to this option you should find someone who has and get them to do this):
System Management > Remove Record Locks {New Style Menu}
This displays the following info:
One of the more common reasons for a locked card is the screen has been left in a card and 'AutoLog' runs and returns the screen to a login prompt - however the card is still locked.
The Users option on the prompt line will check with the O.S. if the screens displayed are still logged in. If not it will clear all locks and users for that screen. This is the 1st option you should run when looking a locked record.
If the card is still locked you can:
- Select Clear
- Enter the tty number for the locked screen
- You will be asked if you want to reset:
- User - Removes the USER from the system
- Record - Clears the lock does not affect the user
- Both - Both of the above
