Human Medicines

Some of the drugs we stock are classed as a 'Human Medical Product' and I would like to draw the users attention to this when the item is dispenced.

We will use `Tramadol Capsules 50Mg' as an example, the involves making the stock item with a drug interaction.

First step is to setup a stock interaction :

Stock -> Parameters -> Interaction -> Animal Class

Enter beside a free slot:

Species !~ Human

This just says, if the Species DOES NOT contain Human then it is valid.

(You could use any 'species' name that does not occur in your records, using Human make it easy to see what the interaction is.)

Next, Set up the Stock card(s) to have the animal class:

Access the record card for Tramadol,

Inter -> Interaction -> Add -> Animal

Now if this item is used on any record where the species does not contain 'Human' the screen will indicate there is a possible interaction e.g.

<< ADDING Tramadol 50mg >> << CAUTION CHECK DATA SHEET FOR THESE COMBINATION(S) >>
Warning: Tramadol 50mg - species !~ human Continue adding? Yes No
You can set up other interactions based on the Species, breed, age and sex of the animal. Additionally, you are not limited to animal details, there are certain dugs that should not be given together (or used with caution). These can be set up as well and are called Drug classes.

See the Interaction FAQ for more details.
