How Do I install and use the Lifelearn CD
Earlier version of the Lifelearn CD are available that allow the forms to be printed from any terminal. The 2003 Update can only be accessed from PC's.
- Login as root
Type cd /u/vetdata/textmkdir life2003chmod 0777 life2003 - Insert the CD in one of the PC's
- Click MyComputer, right click CD Rom, Select Explore,
Click File then Select All, finally right click one of the files and select Copy. - Brower the network to locate your Unix host for the Vet system and the folder text/life2003
- Right click in it and select Paste
- Once the copy has finished you can remove the CD rom as it is no longer
required.
- Login to the Vet system, press F6 to get to a Vet> prompt
- Type
ste text/windows.idx - Add a line
text/life2003 2003 Lifelearn Handouts - Save the file and exit back to the vetsystem with Ctrl d
To access the documents - From a client card select Operation followed by Windows, select '2003 Lifelearn Handouts' and select as required.
Customising it
There may be a handout you want to use on a regular basis and want to customise it with client details.
Follow the steps below (only needed once per document)
- Open the document you want to customise.
- Select Tools them MailMerge
- Click Main Document -> Create -> Form Letter -> Active Window
- Click DataSouce -> Get Data -> Open Data Source
- Browse to Vet System and Select WordCSV.csv
- A box will pop advising you there are no merge fields - this is normal, click 'Edit Main Document'
- Use the 'Insert merge Field' icon to add the merge fields you require.
- Save the document
Now everytime that handout is printed it will have the client details on it.
