ShortCuts
Some of these may be very obvious to you but from watching users and comments on the phone some of you may not be aware of them.
Dates
You do not need to type in the full date e.g. 22.03.97 you can take shortcuts e.g. assuming today is the 10th March 1997:

Recall the last client
You have pressed return or ESC too many times and have gone back to the main menu before you were ready. Just type a full stop (.) and you will be taken back to the client you came from.

If when adding a new client the system asks you for options you don't use or use infrequently then do ask them!
The questions asked are set via the menu option
Set them so the staff can easily and quickly add the record without extra keystrokes.
Dates & User ID
Many of you get the machine to ask you for the date of every transaction and the user entering the work for every transaction. Is this really what you want? How often is work being back dated? How often is the user different.
Switch them OFF if they are rarely used. They are set independently for Small animal, Farm and Equine so you can leave the date question for farm work but switch it off for Small animal. (Use Gen apps, Parameters, Fields & Defaults, Defaults, option 2 & 3, this is a three character field, relating to SA FC EQ, if it is set to 1 then ask, 0 don't.)
You can still change the date and user ID by using the option Variable on a clinical record card.
Clinical record
If you have been scrolling through the long form of a clinical record and want to quit. Use the <TAB> key, this will continue scrolling through the record and return you to the main menu. If you need to go back to the card use a full stop (.).
Macros
Rather than try to remember *, ^7=, +5, ~d etc. when entering Auto priced work use AP macros or change the stock card to generate the labels automatically and add the dispensing fee.
