SMS Reminders for Appointments
When sending automatic reminders for appointments you do not like the
samples we provided and want to change it. With no options the system will use the message stored in sms/ds0000.def
This message file (ds0000.def) is part of the upgrade as will be replaced whenever the system is updated so it's not a good idea to make changes to it.
If you want to make changes then there are two ways:
- Have a def file for each diary e.g. running notifications on diary 3
will be
ds0003.def, diary 10 would beds0010.def- this allows you to fine tune the wording to suit the diary type.or
- Setup one file and tell the system to always use it
The message file for each diary is straight forward, create as needed in the sms folder.
Mapping all message files over to one file.
You may still want to alter the default but do not want to have to create
a file per diary. Setup one file in your sms folder e.g.
diarysms.def that you want to use.
Then select:
ds0001 diarysms.def ds0002 diarysms.def ds0003 diarysms.def ds0004 diarysms.def ds0005 diarysms.def ds0006 diarysms.def ds0007 diarysms.def
This will set the same file for the 1st seven diaries - add the entries you need for the diaries you have in use.
What this does is let the system map the specific diary file to
diarysms.def
and use that file instead as these files are unique to you then will not be affected by any upgrades.
No default file
There may be a case where you do not want the default file to be used e.g. never send an SMS reminder even if the diary is selected. You can do this by setting the defaults as above and also add
Use the menu option above to access the text file sms.txt and add:
Add Diary_No_Default=No
dsxyyy.def file for the appropriate diary - no file, no default, nothing sent.
