Common Software Problems

I GO INTO THE DIARY AND IT'S LOCKED

• I see the message

  Add/Edit: This page is in use by XXX on tty01 - Press RETURN
  

  This means the system thinks someone is using this page. Check (Use F11 from the main menu) that user XXX is not logged on - if they are wait until they have exited. If however the user is NOT on the system you can bypass the lock by entering an asterix (*) at the above prompt.

I GO INTO THE PURCHASE LEDGER AND IT'S LOCKED

• I see the message

  Purchase Ledger in use - Press Return
  

  The chances are someone was in the Purchase ledger and they switched off or were logged off - the lock still remains. Use 'Remove Record Locks' of the Utilities (Sys Management) options. See FAQ Remove Locks for more details.

MY RECALLS WON'T PRINT ANYTHING AND I KNOW I HAVE SOME THIS MONTH

• Check option 1 in Print recalls
  • Is it set to All ? If you are trying to print a recall for one clients animals you must have the client range start and finish at the MASTER record number for that client regardless of whether or not the MASTER animal is due for recall.

• What species are you searching for ?
  • If you have entered " rabbit" as a species and all your rabbits are listed under "lagomorph" then it will find none.

    If you have the species to search for set to "ALL" (highlighted) then the program will look on management records for the species ALL rather than canine or feline. Select the species option and when it prompts you for a species...just press return. The program will then look for all species.

• Have you got the other settings correct ?

  The period you are trying to recall for etc ?

• Try displaying the recalls in a list rather than print them, does it find any now ? In effect, is it the print program rather than the recall program that is the problem. ?

I CAN FIND A CLIENT BY NUMBER BUT NOT BY NAME...AND I KNOW THEY ARE THERE!

Occasionally the computer will tell you someone is not on file when you know they are, To be even more irritating if you know their computer number it will let you access them !!!

I CAN'T RELATE SOME ANIMALS - SOME ANIMALS ARE MISSING FROM TOMBSTONE
A CLIENT HAS THE WRONG ANIMALS ON TOMBSTONE
SOMEONE HAS BEEN SENT A BILL FOR SOMEONE ELSES PET

• If you have any sort of problem involving related cards / tombstone records it is best to let the computer sort out what it can first
  • Solution: Run the program Fix Related Records
    • Gen Apps
    • Validation
    • Fix Related records

  • It is important when running this program that you answer Yes to the question " Do you want to print ?" as if you don't print it, it won't fix them.
