Common Upgrade Questions
This guide has some of the common questions we received after a site has been upgraded. You may come across some (or none) of these questions from your staff.
- Where do I find more detail on what has changed?
- To print them - Use the / key to get the menu then print
- To see the full manual page - Use the / key to get the menu then either:
- Select URL for a list of all the manual references, select as needed.
- Select HTML, your web browser will be used to display the current document, navigate as required.
- Does this upgrade cost anything?
No
- I can't find 'Lookup Wholesaler' in the stock menu?
This option has been replaced with pvprice. If you have not already set this up you need to do so:
- Select Utilities -> Function Key Setup {Classic}
System Management -> Users/Macro -> Function Key Setup {New Style} - Select an un-used key (1-10)
- Enter pvprice as the command
- Leave 'Options' blank, CR to No, Clear to Yes.
To access this from any menu press SHIFT and the Function key setup.
- Select Utilities -> Function Key Setup {Classic}
- I am getting 'strange' words mainly when entering text but it is happening elsewhere as well
In earlier versions of the software 'System Macros' were accessed by prefixing the text with a ~, now they are checked for automatically. It could be macros were setup in the past and forgotten about.
You have two options:
- Edit or Delete the offending macro
Use Utilities -> Macros (System) {Classic}
System Management -> Users/Macro -> Macros (System) {New Style}
List the existing macros, then edit as required. - Switch them off
From the menu select = then User-Info, enter your password, Options make sure 118 is set to no.
This can also be done from within password maintenance (See footnote).
- Edit or Delete the offending macro
- When pricing work on a client card I cannot change the prices anymore?
When adding priced work, the system will list the options, you select and the prompt line:
With earlier versions the default was 'yes' which stepped you through another few screens. Now the default is accept, this will ask you the quantity (items) and accept all the defaults.Is this the one you want? Accept Yes No Quit
If you want to change any prices, alter the dose details etc. then select Yes at this prompt.
- We're unable to access Text Editors.
These are now protected on a per user basis in Password Maintenance. You should ensure users have access to option 116 (See footnote).
- My Automatic Pricing Macros and/or dispencing fees have changed.
With Cross Updating, changes to either of these options at one site will force the changes over to the remote one(s).
If you wish to maintain separate Macros, Stock and AP files (not recommended) at each site then you need to tell the system NOT to send them. Add
v6apmtto the file/usr/utilities/x_ignore. - I can't use the £ sign for credits on a client's record.
This is the Sterling symbol which is now used by the software, in earlier versions it's behaviour was un-defined. The correct key for credits has always been the hash symbol (#).
- When I press return on a client's management record, it takes me into the client's clinical record, instead of quitting from the record.
You have the option now of defaulting to Quit or defaulting to Clinical. To change the default:
- Use Password maintenance (See footnote) and change option 115,
Yes will default to Clinical, No will default to Quit. - Change via = at the main menu, User-Info, enter your password, Options, 115
- Use Password maintenance (See footnote) and change option 115,
- I've logged in but only have 'Quit to Operating System'
or I have sent a message to everyone and some users have not received itCheck the user is not marked as 'Retired'.
Use Password maintenance (See footnote) and check the group the user belongs to - if they are marked 'Ret' then edit the group to be 1-5.
- It is taking longer to integrate Cross Updating Logfiles.
The Auto Fix option never worked correctly in previous versions, it may be it was switched on in the past, if on it will work as explained in the manual. You can either switch it off or reduce the number of records transfered each time. The options are on the Cross Updating -> Parameters menu.
- My menus are highlighted differently/are a strange colour on my wyse terminals.
Early Vet3000 Installs never set the correct attributes for Wyse terminals, you need to slightly alter how Wyse's display Highlited Text.
From the Classic main menu:
General Applications -> Parameters -> Hardware -> Terminal Database -> 11 -> Screen and change- High On to
\027 G8 - High off to
\027 G0
System Management -> Setup etc -> Parameters -> As above. - High On to
- I'm unable to edit priced clinical work or edit the date.
The system now differentiates between edits on priced and un-priced work as well as edit to transaction dates.
To allow users to edit priced work they must have access to option 119
To allow users to edit the transaction date they must have access to option 120There is a flow chart included in the on-line manual that shows the relationship between all the clinical edit options.
- I'm getting a euro conversion rate on my bills
From the Classic main menu:
General Applications -> Parameters -> Fields/Defaults -> Options and change option 28, Show Euro conversion to No. New Style Menu:
System Management -> Setup etc -> Parameters -> As above. - The system is not letting me sell stock if the quantity is below zero - I don't use stock control
From the Classic main menu:
General Applications -> Parameters -> Fields/Defaults -> Options and change option 23, Block Stock Sales < Zero to No. New Style Menu:
System Management -> Setup etc -> Parameters -> As above.
All changes made to the system are documented in the Release Notes, these are accessed via:
The most recent readme will be at the top, use the arrow keys to highlite, press <Return> to view. Depending on when you last received an upgrade you may need to look at more than just the recent one.
