No VAT On Drugs
Guide dogs and other Charities MAY be exempt from being charged VAT on drugs used. Within Premvet you would use the classification option.
Classification 1 is setup automatically on the system to handle this.
To mark an animal as being exempt:
- Access the animals card
- Select 'A'dditional
- Select 'E'dit and highlite the 'Classification' field
- If you are unsure of the exact wording on your system enter /vat
- Select classification '1'
Now any 'Drugs' entered on the card will not be charged VAT.
However, this applies to ALL stock items, pet food, toys etc. will also be included - they are not eligible. You should specify in the classification setup which analysis codes should NOT be included.
-
System Management -> Setup -> Parameters -> Lookup Tables -> Recalls -> Others -> Classifications
Beside Classification 1 there is a field where you can enter the analysis
codes you want to be ignored.
For example: your pet food is under
analysis codes 240-242 and the pet toys are on 244. You would enter
240-242 244.
Now all stock except analysis codes 240, 241, 242 and 244 will be exempt of VAT.
You should also set the params.txt entry
Tree_Discount_Same = Yes
This will tell the system to carry over the classification onto any new animals that are added to tree.
If you want the Surgery number to be carried over as well then also add
in Tree_Transfer_Branch = Yes.
To save you having to manually change the Classification on the additional screen you could setup an Automatic Pricing code to do it all for you. The example below uses the Extra's line to set the classification.
