I have just upgraded to Word 2002 or Word 2003 and have lost the old
MailMerge Helper
Can I get it back?
Yes.
If you're used to 'Mailmerge' using Word 2000, you may find the 2002 or 2003 versions a most unpleasant surprise.
Though its new powers are (allegedly) welcomed by some, the rest of us just need the old 'Mailmerge helper' back.
Luckily it's still there: here's how to install the command to invoke it.
- Use the menu 'View/toolbars' to display the 'Mailmerge' toolbar
- When you've displayed the toolbar, return to the menus - use 'Tools/Customise' - this pops up a box
- Choose the 'Commands' tab
- From the categories on the left, choose 'All commands' and find the one called 'MailMergeHelper'
- Click and hold on the command and drag it to the Mailmerge toolbar.
- You'll then be able to launch the original 'Mailmerge helper' using the toolbar command .
