Introduction

DataMajor is a reporting database that can be used to generate ad-hoc and stored reports on your practice data. It is different to the existing reports in that it uses a standard 'SQL' query language allowing Premvet AND other applications to look at the data, the data is highly 'de-normalised' allowing for very fast reporting. An Excel Add-In is included.

DataMajor covers the following situations (or combination of):

• Practice with no access to Graphical Spreadsheets (Generate just the raw figures)

• Access to just Microsoft Excel (or similar spreadsheet) either on a networked PC or stand alone

• Microsoft Excel/Word or iMac Number/Pages using ODBC to extract the data

• If available, use 3rd party reporting tools e.g. Crystal Reports for full control of the layout.

• Copy the database to a CD or laptop for off-site analysis

  (Does NOT require Premvet or Unix on the laptop/remote system, runs Win 98/ME)

• Practices with remote sites (not linked or using cross-updating) can merge data to report on all sites at once.

DataMajor is designed as a management tool, it allows you to monitor key indexes to see how well you are doing and keep you updated on your real profitability or lack thereof - they include:

• Number of transactions by month and year

• Total number of new clients by month and year

• Laboratory work as percentage of income by month and year

• Dentistry/Urinalysis as percentage of production

• Overall average transaction fee by month/year

• Comparison of percentage of dentistry by each veterinary surgeon

• Comparison of number of transactions by each surgeon

• Diagnostic ratio by each surgeon

In addition, you can look at:

• General

  • Search for who did some work, for work on a particular day, breakdown by user and group.

  • Locate owners for found animals with minimum of details.

  • Handle Product Recalls by quickly location who purchased an item.

  • Batch Tracability - Who has had that batch.

• Trends

  • Do puppy parties have any influence on the up-take of vaccinations or identi-chipping?

  • Do insured animals live longer then un-insured ones?
  Capacity Planning

  • How short of our target capacity are we?
  • Laboratory Work

    • Animals with abnormal results

    • Look at ALL the ATP, PCV results for dogs under 2

    • What Maximum/Minimum results are you getting.

  • Graphs

    • The system will produce the data in the appropriate format to allow the results to be presented in a graphical manner using a spreadsheet.

  The database is restricted to 'recent' animals, that is animals/client seen in the last five full calendar years. See 'Generating the Snapshot' for details of changing these defaults.
