People
The EnServe can store details about the people who use your network. This aids management and allows control of access to services on a per-person basis.
Each person is given a unique username and password that they use to access the services provided by the EnServe.
Each person can be given their own e-mail account with multiple addresses and their own public and private shared folders and intranet pages.

Groups
The EnServe allows you to associate people into related groups like 'sales', 'finance' or 'technical'.
Each group can have it's own mailing list, shared folders and intranet pages.
A person can be a member of more (or less) than one group.

Firewall
Firewalling is considered essential for any network or computer connected to the Internet.
A 'firewall' prevents unauthorised attempts to access systems on your network and guards against 'denial of service' attacks initiated from the Internet by hackers or viruses. A firewall is like a sentry, allowing or denying connections from entering or leaving your network.
The computers on your network are said to be 'behind' the firewall and would generally still have full and unhindered access to the Internet and World Wide Web but connections from the Internet to your network would be restricted.
Network Address Translation (NAT)
NAT is a technology used to allow an entire network to access the Internet without having to assign a unique Internet IP address to each computer on the network, only the computer or device that makes the actual Internet connection requires a unique Internet IP Address. Most Internet Service Providers require you to use NAT to connect a network to the Internet. If the EnServe is managing your Internet connections is provides NAT services automatically

Web Caching
If the EnServe is managing your Internet connections then whenever a web page is requested by a computer on your local network the EnServe stores a copy of the page on it's hard-drive.
This greatly speeds up subsequent requests for the page. If the page has not changed on the web the EnServe simply serves it from it's hard-drive, vastly increasing the speed of access and freeing up bandwidth for other users.
