How To...

The EnServe will periodically scan the shared folders on its hard drive for viruses. It cannot scan individual computers on your network though. For that you should buy a reputable anti-virus solution for each computer on your network. Although the option for hourly virus scans is available it is not recommended. Scanning hard-drives for viruses depends on the amount of data that is stored on the hard drive and can take a long time.

Manually Scanning a folder or disk.

You can use the admin login to scan either the whole disk or specific folders.

Use the Administration Menu -> Followed by Scan for Viruses

You will then have a choice: (Select with the SPACEBAR).

Whole hard disk
This is slightly different to the weekly scan, this option will scan EVERYTHING on the hard disk.
Users Home Directories
The scan will be limited to the users home directories. (/h/home)
Users Mailboxes
Only scan incomming mail folders - use this option with caution - if a virus is detected the WHOLE of the users mailbox will be quarentined. You will not need to use this option on a regular basis - all mail will be scanned on arrival automatically. (/usr/spool/mail)
WebServer Documents
Scan just the web server documents (/u/www)
Other Location
This option will allow you to navigate to any location on the server and scan just that location.
Windows Common Area
The primary Windows SMB share (/w/common)
