The EnServe stores details of the computers on your network in order to allow or deny access to some services on a per-computer basis and to allow other computers on the network to find each other easily using DNS names rather than IP addresses.
In order to communicate with the EnServe the computers on your network need to be set up with the correct networking information.
This can be done in one of two ways.
Method 1 : Manual Configuration.
Work out what each computers IP address, netmask, DNS servers and hostnames should be and set them manually for each computer.
To work properly with the EnServe your computers need to have a unique host address between 1 and 253 and have the same network address and netmask as the EnServe. They should also use the EnServe as the primary DNS server.
Method 2 : Automatic Configuration with DHCP.
The EnServe can provide the appropriate configuration information automatically to computers or devices that support the DHCP system and are physically attached to the same network. You can configure most computers to request their configuration automatically from the EnServe rather than specifying the values yourself. This is by far the easiest way to set up your computers to work with the EnServe.
