Entering stock items via automatic pricing
Stock items are added in an identical manner to the procedures
earlier.
You can, if you have a Barcode Scanner installed,
scan the product barcode, in a similar manner to the supermarket checkout.
If you are doing this you should enter the quantity (or any
meta-characters) before you scan the item.
Dose details
Normally the dose will be specified on the
stock card (2nd screen), if it
is configured to ask for additional detail, either a pop-up windows will
appears with details for you to fill in or a line will appear on the
bottom line.
Drug Labels
Generating labels is discussed later.
Batch number
If you have set 'Ask batch number' to 'Y'es (found on the
second lower screen
of the stock card, concerned with labelling) whenever the item is used
a question will pop up asking for the batch details. These
details will be appended to the stock description and appear
as a comment. You cannot use the ask batch facility and
freehand comments at the same time.
In addition to the individual record cards you can use the
meta-character ^10= within a
macro to also ask the batch
number.
Logging medication, repeat prescriptions and drug interactions
If the field 'Log as Med' on a stock record card is set to 'Yes', you
will be asked some additional questions so that Premvet 5 can log
the drug you are prescribing to the animal's current medication record.
These questions are described on the following page which deals with
repeat prescriptions.
Additionally, the system can be set-up to warn
you about possible drug interactions when you attempt to prescribe
a drug to an animal. To configure drug interactions see
Stock control.
