Repeat Prescriptions

Current Medication
Premvet 5 can record as many as ten drugs an animal is taking at any one time. Where appropriate, these drugs are logged on the current medication record, which can be viewed by selecting '0' (zero) from either the management or clinical record card.

Note: Premvet 5 will automatically log a drug to the animal's current medication record when the drug is prescribed - but ONLY if the 'Log as Med' field on the drug's stock card is set to 'Yes'.

Medication duration
When a drug is logged as being 'current' you will be asked:

Treatment duration for 'XYZ'

0 - 254		The duration of the treatment in days.
255             Non-Specific, animal is on this item indefinitely or till it runs out.

Can it be repeated 'Y'es 'N'o 'S'ee vet

No        No this item cannot be repeated.
See       Can only be issued if the user has permission to do so. 
Yes       Yes this item can be repeated.

Number of times ?

0 - 254         The duration of the treatment in days.
255             Non-Specific, repeated as often as required.

Note: If the treatment duration is set to 255 (N/Specific) then you will not be asked this question.

Permission to issue repeat prescriptions
For users to be able to issue repeat prescriptions that have been tagged 'S'ee Vet, they must have access permission 104 set within password maintenance. See Passwords and user levels, or consult your system administrator.

Viewing current medication
If there is a current medication record, you will see a highlight line on the lower right of the animal's management card above the recall dates. Pressing '0' (Zero) from either the client management or clinical card will display the current medication for the animal.

From the initial menu you can select 'P' (Print) to print out all the medication records to the current printer. Select a drug to display more details about on the screen, i.e.:

Issuing a repeat prescription
From the current medication window, select 'R'epeat. You will be prompted for the quantity of the drug to dispense and this will be priced and added to the animal's card. Stock usage figures will be updated.

Repeat prescription charge
This is set up via:

 
'G'en Apps - 'P'arameters - 'B'illing Settings - 'D'isc/Surc - Option 5

Length of time the medication remains current.
As the system knows when the item was last issued and the length of treatment it will remove automatically from the current medication screen any 'expired' records. With items that are set to 255 (As required) these will be expired after 255 days.

Note: Expired items will NOT be checked for interactions.
