Search and Replace

This option on the General Applications menu gives you the ability to 'tidy up' the species and breed fields and clinical record analysis codes.

Tidy up Management Records

Over the years staff may have entered a wide range of different data relating to the same breed (species). Rather than go through each record this program will allow you to perform a global search and replace.

This routine will automatically mark any blank species or breed with the work 'Unknown'.

The option is protected via Access Permission number 34.

Use the 'Statistics' program

{Classic} General Apps -> Statistics -> Old
{New Style} Misc Utilities -> Statistics -> Old
to get a list of all the breeds and species on the system.

Once selected, the 1st screen allows you to enter the species to work on, enter the species you wish to find and the in the adjacent column the text you wish to replace it with. To make it easier to see what you are searching for the screen is limited to replacing up to 15 occurrences per run. Once you have finished with the species press <ESC> and a similar screen will be shown to allow you to enter the breeds.

Note: The Statistics program is limited to 350 breeds in any one run, this means you may need to repeat the statistics/search programs a few times till the data is correct.

Tidy up Clinical Records

There may be times where you wish to run through all the clinical records and alter the analysis code associated with text e.g for the Fort Dodge marketing scheme or after a data conversion. This can be done as follows:

All the clinical records will be scanned and any match found the analysis code will be changed and a summary printed of the number found.

You can also change analysis codes with this option. If the 'Clinical Text' is a number between 1 and 255 the system will assume that it is an analysis code and if it matches will be replaced.

For Example, you have analysis code 41 being used for Rabies boosters but someone else has set up rabies boosters with code 90. You can tell the system to change all lines with analysis code 90 to 41, as per:

	 41      90
	 101     Synulox
You can mix replacing analysis codes and text on the same run.
