A program is available on the system to generate written directives and it is accessed from the General applications -> Modules menu.

This features:

  *  500 products
  *  Active substances per product - 3
  * Dose lines by species or type - 7
  *  Breakdown by product category
  *  Breakdown by use
  * User defined printout of directive
When accessed a menu will display the following options:

New product
This option will display a blank product screen enabling you to add a new item to the system. A description of the available fields is given in the next section. When adding a product you must enter at least one active substance and at least one dose line.

Find a product
This option will display a product screen. The screen will contain:

Generate directive
In order to use this option and successfully generate a directive, the appropriate definition files must be set-up. This process is described later in the chapter.

When you choose to generate a directive, Premvet 5 will take you through the following steps:

  1. Enter species. Premvet 5 will identify the products you are allowed to use with reference to the species lines on the product screens. You will only be allowed to use products where the species you enter matches one of the product's species lines.
  2. Enter amount of feed (in tonnes).
  3. Enter feed type (e.g. broiler mix, etc.) --------------------
  4. Enter product(s) required. As many as six products can be used on one directive. If more than one product is appropriate, Premvet 5 will display the allowed products in a window. You may select as required.
  5. Premvet 5 displays the selected product screen. If there is more than one occurrence of the species you will need to select as appropriate.
  6. Premvet 5 returns to step (d). Premvet 5 will repeat the procedure for adding products until you indicate that you have finished by pressing 'RETURN' at step (d). --------------------

    Following the product information details the lower section of the screen will display the other required information. You should use the arrow keys to move around and edit as required.

    Note: The milk and meat withdrawal periods are based on the highest figures for the products included. The client required should be entered as a number and not by name.

Once this screen has been completed another prompt line will be displayed:

Edit
Change any of the information displayed on the screen.

Print
Print a copy of the directive. If you are using Unix as the operating system you will additionally be asked the number of copies to print.

Quit
This will return you to the menu.

Manufactuer Details
The manufacture name and address details come from the Label Maker. You should create a label for all the manufacturer's you will be using making sure the 1st three character of the 1st line is VWD. When selecting a manufacturer the system will prompt you, enter the 1st part of the name (or a space to loop through) and you will be given to option to Accept or skip to the next address.

Setting up the definition files
The directive uses two definition files:

  direct.top - The upper section of the directive.
  direct.bot - The lower section.
The section of the directive that contains the product information and active substances cannot be customised.

direct.top should contain all the required information up to the point where the product information is needed.
direct.bot should contain all the information following the active substance details.
