Status Codes

Status code descriptions

Status codes can be used to indicate such things as whether the animal is dead, allergic to drugs, or the owner is a bad payer. You can define as many as 1000 status codes with associated descriptions for use in your practice. Follow the link to see some example status codes. The status code(s) used on the client's record can have a brief description associated with them (up to 25 characters)

In addition, status codes can also be displayed in different colours or play an audio clip/beep. To make a status code display according to a colour scheme, you will need to associate the status code with a colour event. You will learn about colour events in the Customisation chapter, which describes how Premvet 5 can be configured according to each practice's individual needs.

A few status codes are already defined as standard in Premvet 5. These are as follows:

DD
This indicates that the animal is dead. If this is the case an asterisk also appears beside the client name when the record is displayed.
BD
This indicates the financial information on this record should be transferred to the bad debt account.
?R
(i.e. 1R, 2R etc.) This indicates the record has been marked by the archiving program for deletion. The question mark is replaced by a number indicating why it has been marked.

To define your own status codes, use the appropriate option on the Utilities menu. Premvet 5 will display a menu:

Add/edit codes
This is used to add a new code/description or edit an existing one. Enter the two letter status code you require and you will be prompted for the relevant details. Premvet 5 will also ask you if you would like to allocate a colour event to the status code. Enter the number of the colour event, or the first few characters of the event's description (More details about colour events can be found in the Customisation chapter).

You can delete a code by changing its description to 'DEL' (for 'Delete') using the edit option.

List codes
This will list the codes either on the screen or printer as required.

Attaching an Audio Clip

You can, when creating the status code description tell the system to 'beep' a number of time to attract the user attention. If the 'Number of times to beep' is greater than 9, then the system will check for an audio clip (.wav files) that is named 'number-of-beeps'.wav in the sounds sub-directory. e.g If number of beeps is 12 then the audio clip sounds/12.wav will be played.

There are some sample clips in the sounds folder which you can copy/add to as required.

Updating Status via AP codes

There may be occasions where you wish to remove a status code from within an AP code or Macro - this can be done via the meta character ^18=. This works in the same fashion as at add status code ^4=. e.g.
code ^18=GT remove GT from animal status
code ^4=yy ^18=rr Add code YY and remove RR
