This menu allows you to configure the system for adding new clients. A
sub-menu is displayed with the following options:
Questions asked
Misc settings
New Clients: Questions asked
The order in which the questions are asked when
entering a new client are fully configurable.
The limit is 15, two boxes are displayed, the left box contains the questions available
and the right box contains the questions you have chosen.
The order in which you choose the questions is the
order in which they are output.
Selecting fields
Questions are transferred from one box to another by selecting the
required option from the box on the left and pressing the SPACE
BAR. If the question does not exist on the right then it will appear
in the right hand box, if it has already been selected then it
will be removed from the right hand side.
So to select a question you press the space bar and to de-select a
question you press the space bar again. By this means you build up a
list of questions. The order in which they are selected
is also the order in which they will be displayed.
To move the highlight bar you can use the following :
- Up arrow - Will move the bar by 1 question at a time until the first
question is reached. The contents of the box will scroll as required.
- Down arrow - Will move the bar down one question. If you reach the
bottom of the screen and there are more questions, then the screen
will display the next set of questions and re-position the bar at the
top of the screen.
- The first character of the question name - This will take you to the
first occurrence of the letter specified; if the letter is not
unique pressing the letter again will bring up the next
occurrence and so on.
- End - This will move the bar to the last question displayed currently
on the screen.
- Home - In a similar fashion to 'End' this will move to the first questions
currently displayed.
- Page Up - This will display the previous questions positioning
the bar on the first questions displayed. If you are already
displaying the first group of questions the bar will jump to the first
questions on the screen.
- Page Down - In a similar fashion to Page Up this will display the
next group of questions.
- Control + Page up - This will take you to the first question available.
- Control + Page down - The last question available.
If ESC is pressed you are given the option to 'Q'uit - ignore all changes,
or 'R'eset - delete all the codes to allow you to re-select.
The questions will be saved when RETURN is pressed.
You can set a different set of option for Small animal, Farm and Equine
clients.
New Client: Misc settings
There are eight options here:
- Default record type
- This can be SA, FC, EQ or blank. When a new
client is added this is the record type that will initially be
displayed on the screen and you will be asked 'record type' with the
default being the option stored here. If the record type is blank the
system will assume you are 100% small animal and the record type
question will not appear.
- Check for deleted
- When a new client is added if this option is
set to Yes then a check will be made to see if there are any old
client records that can be re-used. If so then this record will be
used for the new client. The system recognises blank records by the
client name 'DELETED'. However when first checking it looks for the
four characters DELE and then compares the full name. For speed
purposes if the system finds DELE but the full name is NOT 'DELETED'
then the search terminates and a new record is allocated. So make sure
you do not have records called DELETE as these will not be used and
other deleted records after this one will be ignored.
- Mileage on SA
- If this option is set to Yes then the insured field on small animal record will be used for mileage.
- Default bill type - This is a three character field. The first
position indicates small animal records, the second farm animal
records and the third equine records. You put in here the bill type
required for new clients. See the billing section
for a full list of the bill types available.
- Discount field (SA) - This is the initial group of settings that
will be inserted into the discount field on a new small animal
client's record. This field is explained in the
billing section.
This information also applies to options 6 and 7 which refer
to the default discount field when adding farm and equine records
respectively.
- Phone update - If this option is set to Yes then whenever a new
client is added or an existing telephone number on a record is changed
then it will automatically be ADDED to the telephone book. Please note
that when editing an existing client's phone number the old one will
NOT be removed from the telephone book.
