Fields and Defaults
This option changes some of the field names and the defaults that are
offered. When selected a sub-menu will appear:

Field names
(Menu -> General Apps -> Parameters -> Fields & Defaults -> Field Names )
This is used to change the following:
- Options 1 and 2 are reserved for future use.
- Floating field: there is a field on the management record that can be
called anything you want. Normally this is set to 'Telephone', but you
can use options 3-5 on this menu to change the name as required.
- Farm ref. - On farm records there is a reference field which can be
used for map reference, herd reference etc. Option 6 changes the name
to that used e.g. Map, Herd etc.
Defaults
(Menu -> General Apps -> Parameters -> Fields & Defaults -> Defaults )
This sub-menu contains some of the defaults used:
- Telephone/Address line - This option is for compatibility with
some of the older versions of the software. If set to 'Telephone' then you have two
address lines and a telephone number field, otherwise if set to address
you can have four address lines and have to use the floating field to
store telephone number.
- Ask for User ref. - When adding clinical work you can be asked to
enter the user who carried out this work. This option is 3 characters
long. The first is type SA clients, the second for FC and the third is
EQ. If the corresponding position is set to a 1 then the user ref.
question is asked, if 0 then it is ignored.
- Ask for date - In a similar manner to user ref. above, this
relates to whether you want to be asked the transaction date or not.
- Cash discount (percentage) - This is the default percentage used
for cash discounts (if implemented).
- Cash discounts (absolute) - This is the default amount that is
used for absolute cash discounts (if implemented).
- Ask for fees (notes) - If set to yes then whenever the 'N'otes
option is used on the clinical record screen then you will be asked to
enter a figure for fees and drugs.
- Default analysis code - This is the analysis code that will be
added to free-hand note entries on the clinical record. If set to a
zero then you will be asked for the code at the time.
- Page 3 set up as - This is what the third clinical screen is set
up as. It can either be PDSA, for entering PDSA work, or user- defined.
- Weight Analysis Code - This is the analysis code that will be used to indicate a Weight recording on the clinical record card.
- Insulin Analysis Code - This is the analysis code that will be used to indicate an Insulin recording on the clinical record card.
VAT settings
(Menu -> General Apps -> Parameters -> Fields & Defaults -> VAT settings )
This is used to change the VAT and Euro rate, whether prices are entered
including or excluding VAT and whether you are using the cash
accounting scheme.
Options 1 & 2 refer to the VAT percentage amount, and whether amounts
are normally entered as inclusive or exclusive of VAT, or whether the
user should be asked each time to select whether a VAT-inclusive or
VAT- exclusive figure has been entered.
Option 3 'VAT scheme used' can
be a 0 or a 1. If set to a 1 then VAT figures will be based on
payments received, if set to a 0 then VAT will be based on the normal
method of being calculated on work done. This should be set to 1 only
if the VAT inspector has given you permission to calculate VAT in this
way.
Irish 2/3rd Rule - Applies to the way Ireland handles their VAT.
Euro Value - What is the conversion factor that has to be applied to
your currency to convert to/from the Euro.
The table 'A - F' relates to the current VAT rates in force,
- A should be left at Zero
- B is the primary VAT Rate in forces, currently 17.5%
- C .. F are for additional rates in the future
Options
(Menu -> General Apps -> Parameters -> Fields & Defaults -> Options )
This sub-menu contains more defaults which are either Yes or No.
- VAT book in use - Whether the VAT book is used or not.
- Ana code 232 on Today/dockets - If you want clinical
text lines with analysis code 232 to appear on Today bills.
- Ask amount tendered - When entering a payment, whether the amount tendered question is to be asked or not.
- Ask VAT amount - When adding free-hand notes or editing transactions, whether the user is to be asked for the VAT amount or
not.
- Full screen Sheet - Whether the 'S'heet option on the
management card should be full or half screen.
- Show Time - Show the transaction time on the clinical
record screen.
- Separate payments - This is used by the VAT book to
indicate whether you want the different payment types on a separate
piece of paper or not.
- New Waiting room list - Selects the style of
waiting room list you want to use.
- Ask for system date - When the system is started up, whether the
current date is to be asked for or not.
- I. Bills (inc. Zero) - When generating an itemised bill, whether
the category name is still to be printed even if the category has no
amount associated with it.
- Delay on labels - If you are printing labels from the back of a
terminal, whether there should be a delay to enable the label to be
printed before being allowed to continue.
- Cash discount - If this option is set to yes then whenever a
payment is made you will automatically be asked the discount question.
- Ignore payments (VB) - This is used by the VAT book to
indicate whether you want the payments included in the Itemised 'work
done' section or not.
- Dockets inc. Zero - When printing a docket, whether transactions
with no financial amounts printed are to be printed or not.
- Dockets inc. BF - When printing dockets, whether the balance
brought forward is to be included.
16 and 17 are used for auditing purposes and should not be changed.
- AP ' code 232 - When text is entered on the AP
prompt line after an ' - should to be allocated analysis code 232 or not.
- Nice Mac and Mc - Do you want client names starting
with mac or Mc to be converted to 'nice' case.
- Diary - Address line - When entering a client in the appointments diary/waiting room, whether
the comment field of the slot booked should default to the client's
first address line or not.
- Diary - Slot letters - In the appointments diary/waiting room, whether slots which are
untimed are labelled with letters or numbers. Options 20 and 21 are
documented in more detail in the Appointments diary section of the manual.

Show sys message on startup - Do you want (if present) the
SystemWide message to be displayed whenever a user logs in

Block sales < zero - If you have no stock of a specific item
do you want to be able to sell it or not.

Address 4 is PostCode - If you are using address line 4 for the
post code then set this to yes.

One Character user ID's - User ID's can be 1 character (limited
to 25 users) or up to 3 (giving 90 users in total).

Client name help - If set to yes you will be prompted for
the Surname, Initial and Title of the client.

Update Last Cons on Zero - If the transaction is zero priced
should the 'Last Consultation Date' be updated.

Show Euro Value - Do you want receipts and bills to show the Euro
value.

Auto Price force /Con - If when you first enter automatic pricing
would you like a list of all codes starting CON.

Stk Edit update RRP/Sell - When you edit a stock card should the
RRP or the Markup change - yes = price.
There are additional option available if 'More' is selected.

Show User on Docket - Print the users ID on the Docket

Show Vacc Status on MR - Show either the date on which the
last vaccination was given or just the status e.g. Overdue,
Due etc.

Auto Integrate on login - If there is a Cross Updating log file
waiting to be integrated should it be processed when a user logs in.

Fees Drugs separate - Reserved

Add disp fee to Drugs - If there is a dispencing fee added to
a transaction should in be added to the drugs column.

Show VAT on today - Should your VAT number be shown on
the Today bills.

Lifelearn - Whether lifelearn handouts are recorded on clinical records or not.

Multiple label fee - When multiple labels are printed should they
system add multiple dispencing fees

Force Breed entry - When entering a new record should the user
select from the pop-up box or not.

Force Colour entry - When entering a new record should the user
select from the pop-up box or not.

Force Sex entry - When entering a new record should the user
select from the pop-up box or not.

Default Date Back - If you have changed the transaction date
while in a record card - returning to the main menu will automatically
force the transaction date back to today.

Postcode Pop-Up - If the postcode module is installed do you
want it to appear when editing/adding address lines.

Hide Dead Animals - If the animal is flagged as dead do you want
it hidden on the tree view.

Hide Multiple Animals - If the client has more than one animal
this option will group them as 'et. al.' when displaying the records.

Fee note - Alpha sort - When generating feenote do you want them
output in Alphabetical order - yes or numeric - No.

Recalls - Alpha sort - When generating recalls do you want them
output in Alphabetical order - yes or number ic - No.
- Set Master Confirm - If you change a master
record the system will prompt you to update all the related ones - this is
the default.
- Credit disp charge - When you enter a credit
in Automatic Pricing that has a 'Dispencing Fee' attached (~), should this
be credited as well.
- Tree Alphabetical - Should the tree view be shown
in record order or sorted by animal type and name.
- Paid default to zero - Should the default amount to
pay default to the current balance or zero. If set to zero, users cannot
just press RETURN.
Screen date
