When the diary page appears you will see a screen prompt:
Up Down Next Back Goto Jump Week Switch Menu View Edit
Some of the commands are concerned with moving through
the diary. These commands combine with the following keystrokes
to provide you with navigation shortcuts:
| Command | Action
|
|---|
| U | Up a line
|
|---|
| D | Down a line
|
|---|
| F | First line
|
|---|
| L | Last line
|
|---|
| B | Back a day
|
|---|
| N | Forward a day
|
|---|
| - | Back a week
|
|---|
| + | Forward a week
|
|---|
| ^E/<UP> | Up a line

|
|---|
| <CTRL><PGDN> | Forward a week
|
|---|
| <HOME> | First line
|

| <END> | Last line
|

* Note: Moving up and down a screen when moving on the diary page means
that when the top or bottom of the page is reached, the previous or
next page is selected respectively. When a new page is displayed, the
top of the page is shown.
Examples of navigation commands
- Pressing Up allows the user to scroll up to the top of the page if
they are not already there, pressing Down allows them to scroll down
the screen.Using the <UP-ARROW> and <DOWN-ARROW> keys has the same effect. So has
<CTRL>-<E> and <CTRL>-<X>.
- Pressing the <HOME> or the <END> keys at the diary page prompt will
take the user to the top or the bottom of the page respectively.
Pressing First and Last has a similar effect.
- Pressing the <PGDN> or the <PGUP> key allows the user to scroll up and
down the screen respectively by one screenful at a time. <CTRL>-<C>
and <CTRL>-<R> have the same effect.
- Pressing the <CTRL>-<PGDN> or <CTRL>-<PGUP> keys - move
backwards or forwards through the diary a week at a time.
The plus <+> and minus <-> keys work in the same way.
Menu Options
- Next
- displays the diary page for the
following day.Back will display the previous day.
- Goto
- allows you to skip to a specific date.
Enter either DD, DD.MM or DD.MM.YY - If you enter a date
which is past the end of the diary, the last day in the diary will be
accessed, and if you enter a date which is before the beginning, the
first day will be displayed.
- Jump
- allows you to jump forward a number of days.
You can enter a negative number to jump backwards.
As with Goto, you cannot go past the beginning or end of the diary.
- Week
- takes the user to the weekly index, which is discussed later.
- Overview
- takes the user to the overview, which is discussed later.
- Switch

menu of diaries which have been set up is displayed for the user to
choose from.
- Menu

discussed later.
- Edit
- allows bookings and cancellations to be made (provided
that that time is not being edited by another user). This is also
discussed later.
- View
- allows the user to select a slot in the current
day's diary which is booked, and to view immediately the record for
the client involved. The usual selection keys operate in a similar way
to elsewhere in the diary:
| Command | Action
|
|---|
| U | Up a line
|
|---|
| D | Down a line
|
|---|
| ^E/<UP> | Up a line
|
|---|
| ^X/<DOWN> | Down a line
|
|---|
| ^R/<PGUP> | Up screen
|
|---|
| ^C/<PGDN> | Down screen
|
|---|
| <HOME> | First line
|
|---|
| <END> | Last line
|
|---|
To view the record highlight the appropriate slot and
press <V>. To quit back to the normal diary display, press <Q>. When
scrolling up or down and the display lands on a blank line, the program
will look for the next occupied line on the page and continues
travelling in the direction requested until it has done so.
- Personnel
- This gives a summary of the
personnel marked for that diary for that day.
An invisible option ('X') on both the diary and the waiting room list
permits swapping between the two.
Pressing <ESCAPE> from the prompt line will allow the user to leave
the diary program and return to the main menu.
Colour Events
You can use colour events to split up the
diary page as per:
| 180 | User ID / Personnel
|
|---|
| 181 | Top line and Times
|
|---|
| 182 | Block Booking lines
|
|---|
| 183 | Client Name lines
|
|---|
| 184 | Separator (:::) lines
|
|---|
| 185 | Help text
|
|---|
| 186 | Overview: Diary name
|
|---|
| 187 | Comment for the day
|
|---|
On some of the older terminals these colour events can slow down scrolling
up and down the pages. You can set (in params.txt)
the option Diary_No_Colour = no. When set to No all colour events
on the main diary page will be ignored.
