Diary: The Index and Overview Page

Two options Week and Overview both access an 'index' of the diaries.

The 'Weekly' overview show the current diary for a full week e.g.

Movement keys when using the index diary page are as follows:

Options

• Next (and PageDown) takes the user forward and shows the index for the following week.

• Back (and PageUp) takes the user backwards and shows the index for the previous week.

• The plus + and minus - keys works in a similar way to the other screens, but instead of moving the user forwards or backwards through the indexes a week at a time, they move the user four weeks at a time.

• Day returns the user to the diary page they were on prior to entering the index display, unless they have moved through the indexes to display another index. In the latter case the user will be taken to the diary page for the day of the week they were originally on, but on the week that they had most recently displayed on the index.

• 1 - 7 Numbers between 1 and 7 from the index prompt will take the user to the diary page for a certain day of the week in the week of the index which is being displayed. Press 1 for Monday, 2 for Tuesday and so on. The prompt has a reminder of which numbers (1-7) refer to which days of the week (Mon-Sun) and can be used to get that day from the current week's index.

• Jump and Goto perform the same functions as in the appointments diary display, but move to the index display for the week in question.

• Switch will allow the user to switch diaries in the same way as it would from the diary page prompt.

• Menu will allow the user to go to the utilities menu in the same way as it would from the diary page prompt.

Note: Within the index, month is defined as 4 weeks.

If there are more than 144 slots definded in the diary then the index will show one character for every two slots. If both time slots are booked this will be shown by an 'X' if one one then this will be shown with a 'x'.

The following prompt line is displayed:

• Quit Return to the diary to were on.

You have the ability to have fifty diaries on the system, the overview will display six of these centered on the diary you accessed, e.g. you have diary 10 displayed, the overview will show diaries 7 to 13.

If there is room the system will display any 'comment of the day'. This will onlu appear if a) there is a comment and b) if the number of slots for that diary does not exceed about 100.

Diaries do not need to run in sequential order, you can have gaps and you can group similar diaries together, e.g. all vet's between 20 and 30, general visits and nurses between 1 and 10, rota/operation between 40 and 50. By grouping like this the overview will display related diaries making it simple to see who has a free slot.

The option Rename/Move on the Utilities menu can be used to move existing diaries.

If you find you cannot group diaries, you can set Diary_Overview in params.txt to the diary numbers you want to show. This will over-ride the centering of the current diary and everyone will be offered the same selection.

• Note down the diaries you want to appear (by diary number)
• Set Diary_Overview to those e.g. for diaries 1, 5, 10, 15, 20 it would read
  Diary_Overview = 1 5 10 15 20
