In addition to this CSV option, you can store and link to a wide range of other Windows applications. See the Windows section for details on linking into Word for mail merge and handouts.
An option on the 'Text Utilities' menu will scan the 'text sub-directory' for the available CSV files.
The files will be presented on two screens, the 1st will list the 'common' options and you will see the list with:
Select the file you require, if you are using a Windows Terminal Emulator one of the MicroSoft desktop applications will be called (defaults to Excel) to allow you to manipulate the data as required. Otherwise the system will default to the Unix viewer 'Less'.
The system can generate many CSV files, the <S>can option on the 1st screen will look for all csv files (except Analysis Code Log files) and present them in a list (sorted by modification date). There is a upper limit of 500 files. Refer to the appropriate manual section for the name of the file. Select as required.
At the foot of the 1st selection screen (or once a scanned CSV file has been selected) there is a copy option that will allow you to 'copy' the selected file either to a dos formatted floppy disk or to be sent via E-Mail. This can be used to send FDI results to Fort Dodge, transfer a mail merge file to another PC etc.
To remove one of the CSV files, first of all, use the scan option to bring up the list, select it then use the 'R'emove option.
If you are using Anita (Version 5) then this will automatically call the application you have registered for .CSV files (default excel) and print the CSV file to your default Windows printer. Otherwise the raw CSV file will be printed to the default printer.
The option to Log Time Spent will generate a csv file per code per month - this leads to a large number of CSV files on the system. Rather than 'clutter up' the main CSV list these files are excluded. You can use the 'A'na option on the 1st screen (or select a scanned file and pick Ana), this will show just the Status log files. All the options above can be used on a selected file.
Note:
The link with Microsoft applications requires VisionFS to be running and the VetData directory mapped as shared drive P:\. Setting this up is a one-off task explained in the Windows Link section.
