This document contains the technical information required for wiring up an Idex VetTest 8008 to transfer information to a Premvet 5 Unix System.
There are two steps:
a) Edit the file /etc/default/Premvet 5 to include a line :
VETTEST=/dev/tty0a00
Indicating on which port the Vettest is connected.
The file should then look like:
# Main Premvet 5 script to set startup variables # Where are the main data files located VETSYS=/m/vetdata # Location of vet test machine VETTEST=/dev/tty0100
b) Re-boot the system.
The vettest software runs a daemon which runs when the machine starts up. During the re-boot you will see a line
Setting up VetTest link on /dev/tty0a00 PID: 1234
Refer to read218d for the operational instructions.
The connection to the vettest machine should use all the RS232 signals:

You do not need to worry about Baud Rate/Parity or Stop bits these are handled by the monitoring software.
Note: If the VetTest has a VetCom unit attached then the link is via an RJ45 connector on the rear of the VetCom unit. It does not matter which connector is used.
