&bs HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR &client &bf Patient: &animal Discharge Date: &date Diagnosis: __________________________________________________________ The continuing recovery of your pet is now in your hands. Carefully following the directions below can greatly contribute to your pets recovery and reduce the convalescent time. &es MEDICATIONS: &ef Follow instructions on the label carefully. Call if you cannot give the medications as directed. [ ] none dispensed [ ] dispensed from veterinary centre [ ] prescription - take prescription to pharmacy &es DIET: &ef [ ] food and water as usual [ ] withhold food for hours, then give small amounts of water. If no vomiting, then feed small amounts of ____________________________ every 2 to 3 hours, feed like this for days, on the last day mix half and half with normal diet. &es EXERCISE: &ef [ ] unlimited [ ] restricted to lead for days/weeks [ ] confine inside house for days/weeks, carry outside to pass urine/faeces No going up the stairs or jumping. &es INCISION: &ef Watch daily for swelling, redness, oozing or excessive licking. Call us at the veterinary centre if you notice any of the above. Phone 0181 969 5283 &es BANDAGES / SPLINTS / CASTS &ef Check foot daily for warmth and feeling. Call if you notice any bad odour, chewing, or loosening of the bandage, cast or splint. This must be kept clean and dry ( cover with a plastic bag when you take your pet outside. &bs DO NOT leave the bag on for more than 1/2 hour at a time. &bf &es DRAINS: &ef Clean twice daily with hydrogen peroxide. (We can supply this) Make sure your pet is unable to chew at the drain (a plastic collar may be necessary) &es FURTHER CARE: &ef RECHECKS are necessary to ensure recovery and are your responsibility.
