You can access some of the user setting from the main menu by entering a equals sign =.
This is a the same key that you use to read the System Message or to read personal messages.
The option covered here is User-Info.
The User-Info option allows specific users to:
The user will have to enter their password prior to changing the settings, this is to stop other users changing your settings. Settings here are specific to the user and will not affect any other users on the system.
When selected the screen will show the current settings with a prompt line to set:
Every user can have a specific colour scheme, while the overall scheme is controlled by the System Administrator, you can set your own events which are unique to you. The procedure for setting them is identical to the Setting System Colours except you cannot change the overall colours e.g. use the global file.
One additional option when setting them this way, there are some sample colour schemes available. You can select one of the preset options, this will be used as a template - you use it as a starting point and then set as required.
Rather than have your administrator change your password, this option allows you change it as required. You cannot have a blank password!!.
Similar to the password option above, you can change the name printed on reports e.g. you get married, someone has mis-spelt your name.
You cannot change you acutal login name or user ID, these need to be set by your administrator.
Most of the options within Premvet are protected by Access Permissions, these are set by your administrator to restrict access. A few options affect how the system looks, that is the relate to you as a user and not the system. This option allows you to change the few that relate to you:
| 56 | Show Global System Message | Do you want to see the System message every time you login? |
| 107 | Switch off Ask for Date | If the system is asking for Date on each transaction you can switch it off so it always uses the current date for you. |
| 108 | Switch off Ask for User | If the system is asking for user on each transaction you can switch it off so any work entered is allocated to you. |
| 109 | Show Help Lines | Do you want to see the one line help lines along the bottom of the screen? |
| 113 | Use Arrow Keys to Edit | When making changes to the management record card do you want to use the arrow keys (the alternative is the 2 letter codes e.g. A1, A2 etc.) |
| 115 | Default to Clinical on MR | Do you want the default on the management card to be Clinical (alternative is Quit). |
| 117 | Use Clinical_Default | If the practice has setup a Clinical Default(s), do you want to use them or not. If no Clinical_Default has been set this will make no difference. |
| 118 | Use System Macros | Do you want to check for macros (this option is blocked automatically if you are a PDSA site). |
There are three menu styles used by Premvet, you can change the style used. Note: Setting the sytle here will over-ride any systemwide or terminal based settings. The options are:
| Classic | The 'old' vet3000 menu in the middle of the screen. |
| New Style | A box with similar items grouped together. This style has a much better interface to accessing clients, it also forces staff to search for animals before just adding them. |
| Hybrid | A combination of the above, uses new system search for animals but old-style menus options. |
If you login as vet you cannot set individual menu styles.
