Linking with Microsoft Office

Various option within Premvet 5 will call Microsoft Office and other Windows application as needed. These include:

These steps only need carried out once and the rest of this section will explain the steps in detail.


If you are using Anita version 5 or higher the emulator will be set for you automatically (to type I). In addition, you will not need to specify any of the external programs as the system will use the Registered File Types on YOUR PC to open the required file.

You should ensure that you have .GIF, .CSV, .TXT, .HTML all associated with an application.


Setting Up Your Terminal Emulator

  1. Make sure you are using a supported Terminal Emulator.
  2. Use the option General Applications -> Parameters -> Hardware -> Device
    to make sure the screen you are using has been set correctly - specifically the 'Emulator' option.


Setting Up Drive Mapping

There are three steps involved:
  1. Creating the Share You can do this either from the Unix side or the Windows side, select the method you are more familiar with.

  2. Security This is an optional step, but we do recommend it is carried out. To stop users accidently editing/deleting critical Premvet data files you should tell the Vision Software not to display certain files.

  3. Mapping the Drive This is to enable the Windows PC's to 'see' the new share.

Vision Related Errors

If you see a pop-up box with ShellExecute() error: X this usually indicates a problem with the integration link. The error numbers relate to:

2 You do not have drive 'P:' (or VisionFS set) mapped, or the system cannot find the Microsoft Application on your PC to open the document with.
Check that you can access the document via 'My Computer'.
31 Windows is unable to associate the document type you are attempting to open/look at. Make sure that the file extension (.exe, .gif) etc. is registered with an application.
